Patient Testimonials

I am still amazed at what surgery by Dr. Todd Atkinson did for my almost useless shoulder and my quality of life.

For four or five years my right shoulder and arm had been growing more painful and less usuable: The shoulder joint was disintegrating; dressing and eating were difficult. People warned me that shoulder surgery was "the worst... the most complicated... the most painful. Very hard to get right!" But Dr. Abbott Kagan and others recommended Dr. Atkinson as outstanding - and I had a right shoulder replacement.

From the moment I woke up in the hospital this new shoulder seemed to belong and to work easily, like my own. After one month (including therapy) I felt completely recovered. There was very little pain throughout, and now, at three months, even the scar is hardly noticeable. I seem to have a new, completely functioning shoulder and arm, and am grateful to Dr. Atkinson for what seems an effortless miracle. We're fortunate to have in our area a physician of his remarkable skills.

After being in pain for several months with my right shoulder, my internist suggested that I meet with Dr. Todd Atkinson for possible surgery. My problems were with my rotator cuff and severe arthritis. When I met Dr. Atkinson, I knew I was in the right place. His credentials are impeccable and he was very thorough in explaining to my wife and I the surgical procedure and what to expect. He and his staff were considerate to my every need.

On June 22nd, Dr. Atkinson performed a reverse shoulder replacement. A couple of days later I was home and Dr. Atkinson arranged for a great male nurse and a cute occupational therapist. After one month of physical therapy, I was able to be on the golf course pitching and putting. Four months after the surgery, I was playing 18 holes of golf. I cannot say that my score has improved, but I no longer have pain in my right shoulder.

When replacement of my left shoulder is needed, I will be knocking on Dr. Atkinson's door, who a great surgeon!

Sincerely,
Daniel J. M.

Several months before my knee surgery I was in pain with every step I took. Dr. Abbott Kagan said I needed a total knee replacement. I had surgery on Monday morning, December 12, 2005. The next day I was walking up and down the hall in the Cape Coral Hospital. My male nurse Joe and the hospital staff took care of my every need and I thank them for that. Dr. Kagan visited me everyday to see that I was being treated properly. After 5 days in the Cape Coral hospital, I went home and a nurse and a Physical Therapist began treating me. They also did an excellent job. After the second week I went to visit Dr. Kagan's office for further physical therapy, they did a good job strengthening my leg. After six weeks, Dr. Kagan discharged me. I am now able to walk a quarter of a mile everyday completely pain free. I am pain free and I want to thank Dr. Abbott Kagan. The lord has blessed me greatly during this time, as I am 81 years old.

Sincerely,
Howard G.

Dr. Kagan is not only a good surgeon but also a kind and caring person. I had a Knee Replacement ten years ago and during my check-up four years ago I think he saved my life. I am a nurse but I was not aware I had a serious blood pressure problem. He would not let me leave the office until he called another doctor. He then arranged for an appointment for the next morning. He also had his nurse call the next day to make sure I kept the appointment. Today I am having knee surgery. Who is doing it? Dr. Kagan, Dr. Abbott Kagan!

Sincerely,
Betty S.

I had TKR on December 19, 2005. Dr. "Bo" Kagan replaced my right knee and I wouldn't have the old one back for anything! I can walk, swim, dance pain free! Now that I am living in Virginia, I won't see Dr. Kagan for a while, I suppose, but should I need to have the other knee replaced, I will more than likely make the trip to Ft. Myers for the surgery!
